Last Saturday took place the ceremony of award of the twenty-sixth edition of the International Competition of Poetry and Short Story "Jara Carrillo," Cultural Center Sewer Infanta Elena, taking as a guest on this edition of the veteran print journalist and television, Joaquín Arozamena.
First prize and second prize for both categories were, respectively, 2,500 € and 1,200 €, awarding them also a bronze statue by sculptor Anastasio Martinez, who represents an allegory of inspiration in the poet Jara Carrillo, act was chaired by the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Patricio Pérez Fernández and with the presence of jurors.
The winners of poetry recited some of his poems and humorous tale of the argument and explained the genesis of their stories.
The audience in the delivery of these awards enjoyed a day full of memories of this competition, which already enjoys 26 editions, as well as guest writer intervention, Joaquín Arozamena, who soon discovered his talent to reach the audience, and care in the various interventions that were awarded, being very intimate presence of the winning story, the Mexican Olga Valera, who came expressly from their country to be at the ceremony.
As in previous editions, has remained the imposition of the topic of humor in the Rules, despite the difficulty of writing in a genre like comedy, which has about as difficult to get records.
That requirement was imposed for more than a decade with two aims: firstly, to give themselves an identity from the Fair, to distinguish him from the others that are organized in several Spanish cities, most notably, with the intention of overcome the huge gap that has Spanish literature regarding quality works in this genre.
The challenge has been accepted by many writers from the most diverse places.
In addition to the regular participants of most Latin American countries - especially Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, Bolivia and Argentina - and almost all the other Spanish regions and cities from the rest of Europe this year have been submitted works as far afield as Israel, North America, Japan and the Australian continent.
There have been a total of 752 works.
Of these, 219 came in the form of poetry, and 533 in the tale.
Breach of some of the bases were disqualified 52 titles.

The jury in this edition was made by Ana Escarabajal, Bookshelf Cultural Award 2005, Elena Fuentes, director of digital literary magazine "The Wolves of Oman", Ricardo García Nieto, a poet and writer Rosa María García Gil, a former finalist in the contest , Patricio Pérez Fernández, Deputy Mayor of Culture of the City Sewer and María José Gómez Guillén, coordinator of this competition since its inception.
