La Peña festive "Athena" made just for women and Riquelme Carmen Ortuño, the first woman councilor in Sewell between 1979 and 1983, the award winners.
In the morning at the City Sewer, Sewer Mayor Lazaro Sanchez Mellado and Deputy Mayor of Health, Social Services, Senior Citizens, Women and Migration, Mónica García García, received the award-winning edition of the Awards II Women Area Sewer, prizes awarded for the second year and have fallen in the Institutional category for the festive Peña "Athena" and Carmen Ortuño Individual category Riquelme.
The awards have been made and designed as in last year by sculptor Miguel Belchí tosher.
Prizes will be awarded at the Gala to be held next Friday, March 5 at 19:30 am at the Cultural Center "Infanta Elena", being framed within the activities planned to celebrate International Working Women .
Sewer Mayor Lazaro Mellado, they announced in the reception of the resolution adopted last Friday, February 26, by the Local Government Board on a proposal from the Deputy Mayor, Mónica García, particularly in the Institutional category Peña festive "Athena", the highlight of this rock with its fifteen year history since its founding in 1994, Peña is composed only by women who have endured longer in our party, being at present consists of 13 club members .
The designation of these women is, as a recognition of the increasingly important work of women in the festivity of Sewell, is an example for other clubs also integrated women in our town since last year and two further that are built in the Federation of Peñas festive and Cultural Sewell.
While in the Individual category, the winner will be Ms Carmen Ortuño Riquelme, the first woman Councillor of the City Council in the first democratic legislature, and covered the period between 1979-1983, showing up the first municipal elections in the application of PSOE, delegated by the Mayor, Francisco Zapata, the delegation of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Stressing the importance of joining the public life, in a historic moment, as is the boot of a young democracy, which implies their presence as women and politics, in an area so far, in which the woman had a place, having to reconcile their family life, work and politics.
For his great charisma, sensitivity and closeness to the social problems of the era, and the contribution that, with effort and political commitment made to the current configuration of the Social Services, is why this award is given to be model of working women related to social and political life of our municipality, as stated in its proposal the Deputy Mayor Monica Garcia.
