The project will be financed by the Obra Social "la Caixa" and the work will involve the people at risk of social exclusion
The director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernandez, along with Mayor Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, and responsible for Institutional Relations of Welfare 'La Caixa' in Murcia, José Antonio Meseguer, today presented the construction project a botanical garden in the natural setting of 'Agua Sala', which will serve as a place of recreation for the residents of this town.
This initiative is part of the revitalization project of rehabilitation and archaeological, environmental and socioeconomic environment of the complex 'Ethnological Museum of the Huerta de Murcia and Natural Paraje Agua Sala', which will invest EUR 1000.000 financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water and Social Work 'La Caixa'.
This project will also constitute a source of employment for disadvantaged people at risk of social exclusion.
The area in which they carry out the project covers an area of 40,000 square meters, have been abandoned, which was used as illegal dumping of debris.
The director general noted that "plant species will be planted in small plots, distributed according to color families."
He also stressed that "indigenous crops of vegetables, legumes, vegetables and fruit trees, also have a space in this garden."
Pablo Fernandez said that the place of 'Agua Sala', because of its location, "is a real natural lung Sewer."
Riparian vegetation has deciduous species, mainly poplar, alder, willow and eucalyptus, with some specimens listed as heritage trees.
As for the fauna, there are species associated with riparian environment.
