On 14 May, the town recorded a rate of benzene 100 times higher than normal, as indicated by the metering station to the Autonomous Region has set up in Sewell.
The PSOE and denounced in October 2008 that the cases of air pollution in Sewell had failed to be punctual, and that the town was experiencing very high concentrations of toluene and benzene, a substance known to be highly carcinogenic.
For Caesar Candel, "the conclusion we can draw is that the problem continues, and the Popular Party, which governs in Sewer and Murcia, is not doing anything about it."
Therefore, the Municipal Socialist Group will ask the Full Council that the Councillor explain the measures taken to prevent recurrence of such events, in addition, Candel Caesar intends to require the competent authority "to end once and for all with this serious problem for the health of all toshers, and again subjected to contamination by carcinogenic substances.
