In the morning the mayor of Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, with the presence of the Director General of Local Government in the Region of Murcia, Javier Iniesta, along with the councilman of Public Safety and Traffic, María Dolores Fernández, inaugurated the new facilities Park Children's Traffic Education, located in the former municipal fish market, next to the building of the Local Police in Sewell.
At the same have already started classes and tours of the circuit two groups of students in the College of Special Education "Eusebio Martinez" and the College of Education and Primary "NS
Lady of the Assumption.
Taking advantage of the external facilities market in an area of 2,630 square meters, the city of Sewell, in collaboration with other local companies have made possible the construction and recreation of this little circuit that has all those essentials to meet road safety within this municipality.
Children have traffic in the park with two roundabouts, two pathways: a perimeter and a central, with their signs, two traffic light junctions, pedestrian crossings, parking areas and a level crossing barriers, since the characteristic of this by having two real life in our city.
Road Safety Education Project for 2008/2009 is aimed at students of primary education, both for the second cycle (8 and 9), and for the third cycle (10 and 11 years), and the rest levels at the request of secondary school or college.
All schools participating Sewer, also including the College of Special Education "Eusebio Martinez which also participate actively in this new project carried out from the Department of Public Safety and Traffic, also coordination with the Department of Education.
From February to June will aim at children basic knowledge of traffic rules and road safety, know the major signs, habits of correct behavior in the field of road traffic, bringing children closer to the figure of Local police and sensitize parents and teachers of the importance of road safety education.
Park Children's Traffic Education has 2 electric kart, 2 cars Bugui gasoline, 2 quart of gasoline, 15 bicycles, 25 helmets, 30 reflective jackets, vests as well as 5 and 5 police hats, as five of these students or student to complete the task of monitoring and enforcement of the signs of their partners.
The classes will be taught by a sergeant as a coordinator, a corporal in charge of the courses and six local police officers spread across different shifts.
Students will have prior to the completion of the course an evaluation test on basic skills will be taught in the same Center for Teaching and before the day appointed for the activity, making another post to assess the degree of satisfaction obtained in this driver education activity, comparing the test and evaluating them.
