The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, today defended Sewer "maximum involvement" of citizens in the design of municipal policies, at the opening of a conference on 'Local Governance in the current context. "
Reverte recalled that the EU is now strengthening the role of regions and municipalities in making decisions and in designing future policies, so it was "important that we stop territorial governments to think how we meet new challenges imposed on us share a common European space. "
To the minister, municipalities "have the biggest range of public services for citizens in order to improve the quality of life and social welfare of all", and stressed that "it is also in the municipalities where economic progress and where further back in times of crisis. "
For this reason, Reverte recalled the support of the regional government to councils so that, through them, "efforts are focused, investment and improvements to be fed back to the citizens."
Very recent examples of efforts made in this line is the Regional Public Safety Plan, the Basic Municipal Infrastructure Plan or the guarantee program announced this week that "will allow municipalities to sustain their current expenditure credit, as their situation is exacerbated by the economic as the State assumes no responsibility to undertake a Local Financial System stable and sufficient funding, "said the minister.
Reverte highlighted the interest shown from the regional government to increase the quality of public services and improve citizen services.
In this regard, said the Presidential and Public Administration is working on the Comprehensive Quality of the regional administration, which aims to "simplify and improve relations between government and citizens."
Posed as a forum for debate on the experiences of local governments and organized by the City Sewer and company lawyers and Management Consultants Local (ACAL), the day includes the holding of a roundtable on 'Projects for governing councils and endorsement at the polls', chaired by the secretary general of the Presidential and Public Administration, José Gabriel Ruiz, and with the participation of mayors Sewer, Lazarus Mellado; Cehegín, Jose Soria, Jumilla, Francisco Abellán; and Calasparra Jesus Navarro.
