The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, opened this afternoon in Sewer Air Base, the Centre for Child Care, catering for 41 children, 4 to 36 months of age.
These new units are added to those in the Naval Base of Cartagena and precede those that are built on the San Javier air base.
This new center is the result of the framework agreement signed on May 22, 2006 between the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the Ministry of Defense to implement this type of dependencies on military sites to promote work and family life of personnel serving at while facilitating the incorporation and integration of women in the military.
The Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration provide 33 percent of the cost of operating and maintaining the center, while the Ministry of Defence has taken over the construction, equipment, personnel and operating costs, and also from the maintenance.
The Center for Child Care Sewer Base, which occupies an area of 843 square meters, has three units: one to care for children (8 in total) from 4 to 12 months of age, one for children (13 ) from 12 to 24 months and one for children (20) from 24 to 36 months.
As for services, offers dining with times adapted to the parents and socio-educational tasks.
The Ministry of Defence has awarded the contract for the socio-educational service to the company KidsCo.
The center, led by Sonia Orts, is working from the last 17, with 35 children enrolled.
In the region, following the launch of these new facilities, the number of seats agreements with the Ministry of Defense is 82, as at 41 Sewer must add as many in the CAI Grumete Naval Base of Cartagena .
And another CAI is under construction in the San Javier Air Base, which could be operational in 2009, also with 41 seats.
The total number of subsidized places in the Region in the period 2006-2008, and until last 18 days, amounting to 7,514, of which 2,831 are in service.
In 2008 there were 1,842 subsidized spaces.
This is, overall, 98 performances in 42 municipalities, which involves an investment by the Ministry of 35,931,687 euros.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Chief of General Staff Command Headquarters Air Force, Antonio Ríos, Colonel Chief of the Military Air Base, Pedro Delgado, the mayor of Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, and CEO of Family and Minor, Laura Muñoz.
