The Autonomous Community, through the ministries of Public Works, Culture and Sustainable Development, in collaboration with the City Sewer launches a project to rehabilitate and revitalize archaeological, environmental and economic-social complex environment Ethnological Museum of the Huerta Murcia and the natural water Salah, called 'New Integrated Raceway Park', creating a green lung for the sustainable development of the municipality.
The action is to break the physical barriers that divide the town and regenerate the urban space revaluing marginal areas, through public services to improve citizen participation in municipal management to boost job creation and economic development, tourism and culture, promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities.
The performances will be aimed at a sustainable design of urban space for use and enjoyment of all citizens, providing the necessary equipment, according to criteria of sustainable architecture, and the recovery of the natural environment, raising, conditioning and encompassing the historic heritage on the surface green spaces for public use.
The implementation of the project includes the construction and equipping of the Local Development Agency for economic promotion and development of information society and new technologies, as well as improving the physical and cultural environment of the Ethnological Museum of the Huerta de Murcia, with the creation of a large green area which will encompass the different elements of the historical and future construction of buildings in the area (Centre for Citizen Participation and Local Development Agency) and the recovery, restoration and archaeological conservation integral of the Aqueduct Arcos and La Noria.
Also within the areas of activity will build and equip the Office of Tourism, for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage and the creation of the Centre for Citizen Participation, in order to promote the participation of society in improving services local.
The center will feature future Multicultural Library and Historical Archive, the Center for Youth Participation, the School of Environmental Education and Nature's Classroom, the Center Director of the Local Agenda 21 participatory bodies.
In addition to the Environmental Volunteers Foundation and Corporate Social Responsibility for environmental sustainability.
The green initiative
The initiative 'New Integrated Sewer Parks' has a budget of five million euros financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with 3.5 million, and the Consistory of the municipality, with an amount of 1.5 million euros.
In this budget would have to add the additional intervention of the autonomous region, not yet quantified, and based on the technical and material support.
This project is framed in the context of the municipal strategy 'Sewer grows in Green', contained in the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development of the municipality, while in a master plan for overall strategic development of the area, developed and coordinated way determined jointly by a committee for this purpose.
This Commission is composed of the heads of the Directorate General for Architecture and Housing, the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and General Directorates of the Environment and Environmental Quality, belonging to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning, and by the City Sewer.
