Sewer IU-Green has filed a motion to Parliament next Thursday seeking implementation of a system of social Caterin home that meets the nutritional needs of low-income families.
Councillor training, Carmen Maria Pina, explained that the motion proposes gratuitousness of this system for households at risk of social exclusion, and the progressive payment as income level for the rest of the population.
Pina has alerted the increase of families, especially children and adults, most in difficulty to cover their basic needs because of the economic crisis and "severe cuts" in social policies.
In this regard, it is noted that "obligation" of the government "provide solutions and not look away."
The mayor pointed out that in Spain there are over a million families in which members do not receive any benefit, and that the poverty rate exceeds 21 percent, one of the largest in the European Union, while the child is 27 percent.
"If we add to this the regional government cuts in social services, we have a chaotic situation where 26.8 percent of the population of the Region of Murcia is at risk of poverty and social exclusion."
In addition, IU-Greens presented initiatives for the creation of a system of guaranteed minimum income;
developing an employment plan for long-term unemployed under 35 years;
guarantee the constitutional right to housing and support LGBTI group.
