The president of the Spanish Union of Cooperative Education (UECo.E.), Carlos Sierra Sosa, has visited this morning the facilities of Teaching "Samaniego" teaching cooperative operating in our town since 1982.
At 11 he began his tour of the building and Primary to the Secondary later move, there has been the opportunity to meet the media and to maintain contact with the mayor of Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, the deputy mayor Planning, Environment, Trade and Industry, Juan Jose Gomez Hellin, and the heads of the Cooperative Learning Center, its president Rafael Sánchez and the director of the same Conchi Carrillo, director of secondary education, as well as Pedro Lopez, director and Primary.
Mayor Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, thanked the President of the Spanish Union of Cooperative Education Sewer visiting, especially an important center of education in our town with more than 1,800 students in their classrooms and pioneer in our region as cooperative teaching, being an exemplary center and copy center in its development path, since its inception in 1980 until this time, with about a hundred teachers and about forty people working as non-teaching staff.
The Education Cooperative Union (UECo.E.), took its first steps in 1989, although it had a previous career, currently comprises approximately 450 Cooperative Education, they belong to some 6,700 members and 2,400 contract workers, with a turnover of 23,000 million, and with about 205,000 students.
The Union of Cooperative Education in the Region of Murcia (UCOERM) has currently with 71 member cooperatives, of which 53 belong to the private educational.
Of these, 19 centers provide primary education (0-3 years).
The remaining 18 are private kindergartens 0-3 years.
This is an industry that generates jobs, with more than 2,300 teachers and 300 non-teaching professionals, which is in clear upward trend in the number of students.
If in 2007 there were 24,000 students enrolled, last year already totaled over 33,000.
The Learning Centre "Samaniego", has 1867 students in kindergarten (0-3 years) 156, 393 Children in Primary and Secondary 687: 631 (ESO 293, 115 and Vocational Training High School 223).
Professionally this cooperative has 98 teachers (Teachers) and 39 non-teaching staff.
