The municipality encourages the use of renewable energy with the operation of a system of photovoltaic electricity production on the covers of twenty municipal buildings
The Ministry of Universities and Research Company, through the Energy Management Agency of the Region of Murcia (ARGEM), works with the City Sewer to achieve a 20 percent reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere, This municipality, with the implementation of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy in buildings and transport.
On this occasion, the Minister Jose Ballesta signed a protocol with the Mayor Sewell, Lazarus Mellado, in introducing energy saving measures to achieve emissions reductions of 13,700 tonnes CO2 per year, ie equivalent to the exhaust gases around 4,000 vehicles, and thus fulfill the commitments of the Covenant of Mayors for 2020.
The Minister explained that in addition to promoting respect for the environment, "the implementation of this plan is going to report a triple to the region, generating economic activity directly through energy service companies, fosters savings in public administration and better use of economic resources at our disposal and ultimately increase competitiveness, to achieve the same result with less energy consumption. "
Therefore, the Township Raceway is committed to designing a municipal energy plan promoting renewable energy and energy conservation and efficiency.
"We're talking about taking responsibility involving the commitments made by the European Union through the Covenant of Mayors, to reduce by 20 percent the emissions of greenhouse gases, to save 20 percent of energy consumption by greater energy efficiency, to cover 10 percent of transportation needs through biofuels and promote renewable energy to 20 percent, "said Tang autonomy.
Photovoltaic solar energy in municipal covered
José Ballesta praised the efforts of City Sewer, "a municipality that is characterized by a continued investment in renewable energy, sustainable transport and energy efficiency."
Investments that in the last year have been materialized with the launching of a system of photovoltaic electricity production in a score of municipal facilities, which opened today by the Minister.
This is a project that exceeds the megawatt of installed capacity and estimated total generating around 1,820 MWh of electricity annually, avoiding a global emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere close to a thousand tons a year.
More than 5,000 monocrystalline panels have been installed in ten schools and Primary Education of the municipality, as well as four sports centers, public swimming pool and several cultural centers and Sewer, allowing the town to save 20 percent on the invoice electricity, which is 90,000 euros per year.
The Minister José Ballesta concluded that with this project, "are contributing to the challenge of turning the region into a national and European production and consumption of renewable energies, leading the domestic production of solar PV."
