Today was the tenth gala of Delivery of the Women's Awards 2018, which on the occasion of the activities scheduled for March 8, International Day of Women's Rights, the City of Sewer, through the Department of Social Welfare and CAVI Alcantarilla, are being developed.
The two awards established in the Individual and Institutional category were collected by Raquel Toledo Gómez and the women's basketball team UCAM Jairis.
The act was chaired by the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, along with the Councilor for Social Welfare and Health, Francisca Terol, with the general director of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Laura Sandoval.
In the same we also had representation of the Sewer Air Base, as well as other members of the Municipal Corporation and winners of other editions.
The prize in its Individual category has been awarded to Raquel Toledo Gómez, taxi driver of our municipality, being an example of a working woman who promotes equality and breaks stereotypes, and for her involvement through commitment and struggle, collaborating in various solidarity campaigns in different social areas, as it is being one of the four founders of the group of women taxi drivers "Women for Love to Taxis", which at the national level launched the campaign "Get on a taxi of life" and that from the beginning after the They decided to present their different solidarity actions to the Cris Contra el Cáncer Foundation, which is a private and independent entity, whose objective is the promotion and financing of research projects, for the treatment and cure of this disease.
Today, hundreds of taxis from all over Spain participate in this campaign.
In the Institutional category, the prize went to the Jairis Basketball Club, presided by Mariano Vivancos, to its women's basketball, to the "UCAM Jairis" team, highlighting the contribution of this Club for the promotion of women's sport, specifically basketball , both in the Sewer, as well as at the regional and national levels, as well as the promotion of equality through awareness and visualization through participation in campaigns.
At various moments of the gala, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the aerobatics of the gymnast Natividad, with a perfect, but also risky, staging.
To begin, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Health, Francisca Terol, read the Manifesto March 8, which at the institutional level has been planned from the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
These Awards, which are awarded in its X edition, are framed within the events scheduled by the City of Alcantarilla on the occasion of the International Day of Women's Rights, Institutional and Individual level, creating them in order to recognize the work developed by those people or entities that in their life or doing daily, favor and help a full integration of women in the labor, social and cultural reality of the municipality.
Throughout this week, a campaign to raise awareness in social networks, in which we can upload that photograph supporting the same, with the hashtag #rompiendoestereotipos, as well as other activities scheduled with women's meeting, talk, relaxation workshop and in the morning today there has been a distribution of coasters by the municipal offices.
Throughout the month of March we will have an Equality Workshop "GIP: Gender is Primary", in which the students of Secondary schools of 3 ° of Primary Education will participate, a workshop that will also be taught by the psychologist of CAVI Alcantarilla, Patricia Santesteban
Within the scheduled activities, next month, on April 18, from 4 pm to 6 pm, at the "Infanta Elena" Cultural Center, with the collaboration of Pedro Martos Carrillo, giving a Self-protection Workshop.
