In the early hours of the morning, Alcantarilla saw another year like Adolfo Suárez Square and Calle Mayor and Avenida Príncipe, were "taken" by about two thousand runners and hundreds of other people who did not want to miss the fifth edition of the Popular Race Sewer Aerial Base.
Once again a great success of participation, organization and collaboration, which makes them consolidate among the best in our Region.
Colorful, spectacle and a "human river", that at ten o'clock began the race with the "pistol shot" of exit that gave the chief colonel of the Sewer Air Base and director of the Military School of Parachute "Méndez Parada", who was accompanied by the mayors of Alcantarilla and Murcia, Joaquín Buendía and José Ballesta, the president of the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, Juanma Molina, as well as the members of the two municipal corporations that participated in the two distances, 5 and 14 kilometers with exit and finish in the main street.
Taking the long test its way through Sangonera la Seca and then pass through the interior of the Base, by the airstrip or by the mattress of the parachute launches, having the control tower as a guide and the aircraft that for a day were great spectators of this great test.
It was a good edition to commemorate and celebrate the anniversaries on the one hand of the 70th anniversary of the First Parachute Jump at the Military School of Parachuting "Méndez Parada" and on the 40th of the creation of the PAPEA, the Acrobatic Patrol Parachute Patrol of the Air Force.
But it was also for Sewer, because the runners passing through the 1.9 kilometer saw another institution in our municipality to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Ethnological Museum of La Huerta, along with its beautiful Rueda de Alcantarilla.
The absolute masculine triumph in the 14 kilometers was for the athlete of the San Javier Team Inassa, Mohamed Sellam, Moroccan resident in the town of Cieza and who recently won the Half Marathon of Molina de Segura, with a time of 47 minutes and 2 seconds ( almost two minutes over the one made by Antonio Martínez last edition), José Domingo Ruiz Morales, with 47:09 and third, Rajao's runners runner Antonio Iniesta, in 47:51.
