At the beginning of the term, the PP Government Team signed a new contract for the garbage collection service of the City Council.
The new contract included a reduction in the number of containers from 700 to 480, thus reducing the number of collection points, forcing residents to move and causing accumulation of garbage on the street.
Despite this, Sewer is one of the municipalities with the highest cost in garbage service, according to a recent UMU study.
Already in May 2016 Podemos Alcantarilla filed a motion regarding the breach of some parts of the contract by the concessionaire company.
However, the popular mayor Joaquín Buendía has not been interested in demanding such compliance.
Also, the garbage contract is appealed in court by the opposition.
The complaints of the neighbors, who have uploaded to social networks photos of the garbage that accumulates around the overflowing containers, will arrive this month at the Plenary.
Podemos Alcantarilla has filed a motion to increase the number of containers and collection points.
According to Arcadio Martinez, councilor of Podemos, "the neighbors pay twice as much as in other municipalities and only receive problems of hygiene and smells, we demand that the government team do their work and that there is a good service."
