For years Alcantarilla suffers a municipal economic policy that has been ineffective in the economic and painful socially.
The City Council accumulates a debt of 40 million euros and for the second consecutive year the Report of the Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services qualifies budgets as "precarious" in social investment.
According to Arcadio Martínez, councilman of Podemos Alcantarilla, "the person in charge is the PP, the current mayor Joaquín Buendía has continued the nefarious management of the also popular Lázaro Mellado".
Yesterday the Municipal Budgets for 2018 were to be debated in plenary session. Podemos Alcantarilla had submitted 26 amendments worth 626,000 €.
Among them € 130,000 for improvement works in schools and activities of the AMPAs, an increase of € 235,000 for social assistance, € 50,000 to lower the bus ticket to university students and users of the Arrixaca and € 35,000 for the recovery of archaeological sites.
"Our priorities have been public services, social policies and historical heritage," said Councilman Arcadio Martinez.
However, the Mayor Joaquín Buendía has suspended the Plenary Seconds before its start by not gaining any support and lacking an absolute majority to approve them alone.
"Their budgets were so antisocial that the PP has not dared to submit them to a vote," said councilman of Podemos.
They are already two consecutive years that the Government Team fails to agree on some Municipal Budgets.
"Joaquín Buendía demonstrates that he is not the Mayor of all the sewers," declared Councilman of Podemos Arcadio Martínez, "from Podemos we demand Joaquín Buendía to come to a matter of confidence so that the Plenary decides whether must continue to the front of this City Council or if a government alternative should be formed. "
