Alcantarilla has rendered the event of HOMAGE TO THE FLAG AND THE FALLS FOR SPAIN, to celebrate in our town the DAY OF THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL, in this already traditional and well-deserved tribute that is paid to the Flag and the Fallen by Spain, being the same carried out by the Army of the Air, through the Air Base of Alcantarilla and Military School of Skydiving "Méndez Parada", like organizers together with the City Council, with the participation of the military of the two units that have headquarters in the Base, the Military School of Parachuting "Méndez Parada", the EZAPAC (Squadron of Paratroopers of the Air Force), with a parachute exhibition at the end (Air Parachute Acrobat Patrol), supported by the 721 Air Force Squadron), joining the act the Music Unit of the General Academy of
Aire de San Javier, the event was presided over by its chief colonel, D. Francisco Javier Fernández Fernández, along with Alcantarilla Mayor, Joaquín Buendía Gómez and on behalf of the Regional Government, the Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera Barrachina .
The program began at 11:40 am with the entrance of the military training to Adolfo Suárez Square, from the fairgrounds by Calle Estación de Lorca, to kick off the official event at 12:00 pm with the arrival of Colonel Fernandez , giving updates to the Head of Line and to review the Forces, accompanied by the Councilor and the Mayor.
Subsequently nine soldiers have deployed to the sound of the National Anthe the Flag of Spain of 54 square meters (6 x 9 meters), that has been hoisted in the mast of 25 meters of height that was installed in said place in the year 2.009, when inaugurated the same.
Then the diplomas have been delivered to the different schools that through their fifth year students of Primary Education have participated with their work in this second Sample, which has also been a part of it - exposed in the square, - with the motto "OCTOBER 12. THE PARTY OF MY COUNTRY", where a total of 550 students participated, together with 34 teachers, heads of studies and directors, of the eleven schools of Alcantarilla, the eight public schools of Children and (Jacinto Benavente, Campoamor, Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Nuestra Sra. De la Salud, San José Obrero, Las Tejeras, Jara Carrillo and Vistabella, as well as the two concerted ones (Sacred Heart and Samaniego). always with the valuable participation of the Special Education School Eusebio Martínez.
After the speeches of the Mayor and the Colonel Chief of the Air Base, the Hymn of the Air Force was sung, to continue with the always emotional moment of the Tribute to the Fallen by Spain, where the organizing authorities of the act have placed a crown of laurel at the foot of the monolith, in which was the Patroness of the Air Force, the Virgin of Loreto.
Once the Forces participating in the Military Parade have dislocated the formation, leaving the square again parading through the Estación de Lorca street, where the Parachute Acrobat Air Force Patrol, PAPEA, has made an exhibition with a parachute launch, in the Festival and Fairground, also making the delights of the numerous children's public that have been given.
Today the Adolfo Suárez Square and all the surrounding streets have seen the locals put on their balconies the Flag of Spain, giving a very special and emotional color, as a show of affection of the city to our Teaching and of warmth and affection to the military personnel of the Air Force who have met.
