The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, along with the Councilor for Education, Juan Manuel Gómez, have been pending the start of the new course 2017/18 in our municipality in the eight public and two concerted centers of Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as in the Special Education.

The information that has been released, as well as that obtained from the Department of Education, the start of classes in the Sewer centers has been of absolute normality, have been 4,688, 36 less than in the past school year.

1,414 primary school pupils in 60 classrooms, 3,222 primary school pupils, 138 classrooms, 38 special education students, in 5 classrooms of the "Maestro Eusebio Martínez" CEE and 14 students of Open Classrooms in two classrooms in the " Jacinto Benavente "and" Our Lady of Health ".

The main drop in students is in Primary Education with 46 students, growing in 4 students in Early Childhood Education, 2 in open classrooms and 4 in Special Education.

Alcantarilla has six educational centers with services of Bilingual (CEIP Campoamor, Jacinto Benavente, Las Tejeras, Ntra. Sra. De la Salud and in the concerted Sacred Heart and Samaniego School), with four with school dining room (CEIP San José Obrero, Jacinto Benavente, Our Lady of the Assumption and the Samaniego Teaching Center.
