The Community has invested 2 million euros in this action that will benefit 1,200 students of the center
The expansion and reform works of the Sanje de Alcantarilla High School are in the final stretch with more than 70 percent executed.
The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, accompanied by Mayor Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, visited works that include two differentiated areas, a sports pavilion with basketball court and changing rooms and a classroom on two floors.
The head of Education explained that "the actions are in the final phase and are expected to be completed in four months."
The cost of the works amounts to 2 million euros, which are co-financed by 80 percent by the European Social Fund, and is divided into two annuities: 581.878 euros in 2016 and 1.418.121 euros in 2017.
The new building is divided into two zones, a sports hall of 650 square meters, which includes a basketball court and dressing rooms, and a two-storey classroom, which will have six classrooms, two of them unfolding, two offices, warehouses and Toilets.
In the ground floor will be located the canteen, designed as a glazed box.
The useful surface of the ground floor will be 1,275 square meters and the floor of 425 square meters.
In addition, the building of the Vocational Training workshops will be reformed, with the extension of 640 square meters of the classroom surface, a new heating will be installed and the enclosures will be conditioned.
The action also includes improving access to the center, separating those intended for vehicles and pedestrians, as well as adapting the area for school buses and for private vehicles.
The Sanje Institute currently houses about 1,200 students and more than 100 teachers.
