In the morning of today has been held the Women's 2017 Awards, as part of the activities scheduled for 8 March, International Women's Day in Sewer, at Institutional level, to the Collective of Military Women in the Sewer Air Base units, for their contribution to full integration and participation in the field of the Armed Forces in equal conditions, improving every day to break that invisible glass ceiling that still hinders the massive access of women to the Positions of more responsibility.
The award was given by Alcantarilla Mayor Joaquín Buendía and Lieutenant Colonel Pina, accidental commander of the Air Base.
And at the individual level to Olaya Pérez Tornero, representing all the women of Alcantarilla, who with their daily activity have contributed to the development and scientific progress facing, with perseverance and effort, the difficulties that the field of research demands.
Olaya pursues her profession as a biologist and researcher at the IMIDA (Murciano Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Development).
The distinction was received from the mayor of Alcantarilla and the director general of Agri-food Innovation of the Region of Murcia and director of the IMIDA, Juana Mulero Cánovas.
Previously the Vice-rector for Coordination and Internationalization of the University of Murcia, the sewer Bernardo Cascales, had a few words to this researcher, as well as the importance of women in the world of the University of Murcia.
Prior to the awards ceremony, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Health and Consumer Affairs, Francisca Terol, read the March 8 Manifesto, which at the institutional level has been planned for all municipalities in Spain, the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
These Awards, which are awarded in its 9th edition, are part of the events scheduled by the Alcantarilla City Council on the occasion of the International Women's Day, at Institutional and Individual level, creating the same in order to recognize the work developed by Those people or entities that in their daily life or doing, favor and help a full integration of women in the labor, social and cultural reality of the municipality.
The event began at eleven thirty in the morning at the Infanta Elena Cultural Center, full of small students who did not want to miss the story "One of pirates", by the Autopía Collective, in which the children themselves participated.
