| The City Council will present three projects to the call for IDAE aid to improve energy efficiency in municipal public buildings | Alcantarilla joins the Network of Local Entities to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with other municipalities The Plenary Session of the Alcantarilla City Council, which was held online today, has definitively approved the General Budget, which amounts to 29.4 million euros and will come into effect on January 1, 2021.
The Budget for 2021 guarantees the continuity of the projects started, the maintenance of services and new investments, such as the improvement of the public cleaning service and the facilities of the educational centers, as well as continuing with the renovation of the pavement and the accessibility of the streets.
In addition, 2021 will be the year in which major municipal projects, such as the Aqueduct Park, will culminate, with a 70,000-euro item for the adaptation of the Roman archaeological site.
The Budget Draft was approved in the extraordinary plenary session on November 17 and exposed to the public for a period of 15 business days.
Energy efficiency In today's session, the Plenary also gave its approval to the presentation of three projects to improve energy efficiency to the call for aid from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving a (IDAE), financed through the ERDF operational program for Sustainable Growth.
The objective is to reduce the energy consumption of municipal buildings and the emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, as established in the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES) Sewer, approved by the Plenary on April 24, 2019.
The projects estimate energy savings between 29 and 57 percent, through the air conditioning of the Municipal Pool through a solar thermal energy system, the improvement of the lighting of ten municipal buildings and the renovation of the exterior lighting of the facilities of the athletics track and the ngel Sornichero football field.
In total, they add up to an investment of more than 707,000 euros and, if chosen, the program would cover up to 80 percent of the eligible cost, that is, 554,000 euros.
Sustainable Development Goals Another of the agreements that were adopted in plenary today was the accession of Alcantarilla to the Network of Local Entities to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through a local action plan.
The Network of Local Entities favors coordination between local governments to develop the SDGs in a transversal way in the decisions of the municipalities through joint work and the search for alliances.
Autonomy in matters of taxes The Plenary also agreed to urge the Government of Spain to respect the autonomy of the autonomous communities in financial and tax matters, provided that the principles of coordination and solidarity between territories are respected.
This claim to the central government is due to the intention of changing the current model, in which the autonomies have jurisdiction over some taxes, to impose a fiscal harmonization, which equates them in all communities.
