This measure came into force on March 14, along with the 40 measures to support families, companies, hotel establishments and shops, with the aim of counteracting the effects of the pandemic on the local economy.

The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaqu n Buend a, explained that "it is essential to support our hoteliers and merchants, who are two of the sectors that are most affected by the economic consequences of the pandemic, therefore that we will extend to 2021 all the aid that is necessary to maintain the economy and local commerce, even beyond the date until which the State has extended the State of Alarm ".

The elimination of fees during the first semester of 2021 represents an investment of more than 10,000 euros, which is added to the 188,000 euros invested by the City Council in various measures to support hospitality and commerce since it entered The Alarm Status is in effect.

Expansion of terraces Bars and restaurants will also be able to maintain the expanded terraces until January 31, an exceptional measure that the City Council launched on March 14 so that establishments can guarantee the minimum separation distance of 1 , 50 meters without having to reduce the number of tables they have granted in their licenses.

This special authorization allows expanding the part of the public road that the terraces occupy by up to 50 percent, provided that they do not interfere with road traffic or the circulation of pedestrians.

In addition, establishments that did not have a terrace license until the entry into force of the new security regulations against COVID-19, may have a space to install it, provided that the conditions of the area allow it, during throughout this exceptional situation.
