| Work commissions and social projects have already been launched, such as 'Sakai Romi' on the gypsy language or a bank of time among residents | The Alcantarilla City Council develops 'Neighborhood Stories' in the San José Obrero neighborhood, a participatory project between neighbors to transform the environment, with the collaboration of Third Sector entities, public institutions and associations, which jointly carry out training actions and labor insertion and transformation of the urban environment and promotion of associations. The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, presented this initiative today through a webinar in the form of a participatory workshop, directed by the cultural association specialized in performing arts Aye Cultura Social. Buendía stressed that "the objective is to improve the living conditions of the residents of the neighborhood, for which we already began in 2018 to develop actions of social impulse through local action groups, such as those that are now reflected in Neighborhood Stories ". Lines of action The project is materialized in several lines of action, among which are the start-up of the time bank to improve the conciliation of the families of the neighborhood, urban recovery actions, workshops, strategies to reduce school dropouts, awareness on the matter of environment, attention to gypsy women and the creation of a neighborhood association, among others. In addition to the Alcantarilla City Council, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano, Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena, Obra Social Hermanos Maristas Alcantarilla, Copedeco, Puente Association, Alcantarilla-Sangonera Health Center, CEIP San José Obrero and Asedi participate in the development of these lines of action.
. The project is part of the Participatory Local Development Pacts and is funded by the Regional Operational Program of the European Social Fund, with more than 409,000 euros for the period 2019-2022.
