Calle Mayor will host the first two electric vehicle charging stations in Alcantarilla, which will be available throughout 2021 and will be free to use during the first year of operation. The recharging points will be double, will serve two vehicles each, and are classified as a fast charging system, with a power of 50 kW each and an approximate time to fully recharge a vehicle in 20 minutes. This initiative aims to promote the use of less polluting vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions associated with fossil fuels, as established in the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES) of Alcantarilla, prepared by the City Council in collaboration with the Technology Center for Energy and the Environment (Cetenma). For the installation of this infrastructure, the City Council has the help of the Moves Program, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Alcantarilla City Council joined the European initiative Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, to combat climate change, on March 30, 2017.
In it, the municipality undertakes to implement actions to fight against climate change before the year 2030.
