The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, chaired today the Railroad Monitoring Commission, which was held telematically and attended by the general director of ADIF, Juan Pablo Villanueva, to analyze the development of the works of the Mediterranean Corridor and the Murcia-Almería AVE line, passing through Alcantarilla. The term of execution of these works is estimated at 36 months and recently they have just started the work of preparing the land around the Air Base. In the commission, the mayor expressed his "concern about the proximity to the houses of the provisional route during the works", in which all the political groups agreed, as well as in "the need to find solutions that minimize the inconvenience to the citizens of Alcantarilla ". Also, Buendía conveyed to the Commission the will to "sign the corresponding collaboration agreement so that the coverage of part of the route is carried out during the works, minimizing costs and execution times. The general director of ADIF, after exposing the current situation and the modifications that are being proposed to adapt the project to the reality of the municipality's infrastructures, informed the Commission that "ADIF is analyzing alternatives for the provisional diversion of the road during plays".
In addition, Villanueva promised to "visit the works and participate in the Commission again to specify the details of the solution to be adopted." The Railway Commission was created in July 2019 to follow the development of the infrastructures as it passes through the city of Alcantarilla and to ensure the interests of the citizens.
