| Javier Celdrán and Joaquín Buendía visit the recovery works of this place, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, and which will have an amphitheater at the outdoors and leisure areas for children and young people | The Consistory collaborates in the financing of this project, which has received since 2018 an endowment of more than 800,000 euros The Community and the City Council of Alcantarilla have launched the second and final phase of the rehabilitation of the surroundings of the Ethnological Museum of La Huerta in this municipality, thanks to an endowment of 266,000 euros from the Works and Services Plan 2020-2021 of the Ministry of the Presidency and Finance.

After its completion next year, the site will have the recovery of the aqueduct and the Roman archaeological remains, the repair of the Noria, an open-air amphitheater for 530 spectators that will have as background the arches of the aqueduct, leisure areas and a kiosk -Pub. This second phase of the work focuses on the construction of green areas and leisure spaces in the area that is closest to the Municipal Library.

A large garden with a walk has been planned, the adaptation of the Roman remains that were found in the area, the reconstruction of the canal of the aqueduct and the construction of natural pavement around the arches. The Minister of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, and the Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, visited today the recovery works in this environment, in order to see its progress first-hand.

The projected area is located on a 25,000 square meter plot next to the Huerta Museum, the aqueduct and the Ferris wheel, declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1982, and also next to the municipal buildings of Citizen Participation, the Local Development Agency and the tourism office. The 266,000 euros granted for this final stretch of the project are added to the 548,000 euros for the first phase, within the 2018-2019 Works and Services Plan.

Therefore, the total subsidy derived from both plans amounts to 814,000 euros in the last three years, of which 762,000 euros have been provided by the Ministry through the General Directorate of Local Administration, and 52,000 euros by the Consistory. Javier Celdrán stressed that "it is a particularly interesting project, because it highlights the heritage of Alcantarilla, and it will be an important tourist, cultural and leisure attraction for the municipality.

In parallel, this type of works allows to boost the economy local and generate jobs, due to its dragging effect on companies and auxiliary sectors ". In addition, the counselor valued the Works and Services Plan as "an initiative that places the citizen at the center of its priorities and is a clear example of what is now more necessary than ever: collaboration between administrations". Campoamor garden renovation The Works and Services Plan 2020-2021 includes another action to benefit the municipality of Alcantarilla: the second phase of the refurbishment and renovation of the Campoamor garden.

In this green area, the pavement, lighting and urban furniture (benches and wastebaskets) will be renovated.

The fountain will also be replaced, and the planters will be changed in order to gain more space for the citizens. This project has a total endowment of 281,000 euros, of which 263,000 are provided by the Ministry of the Presidency and Finance and 18,000 euros by the City Council.

In this way, the two improvement projects in this municipality for the period 2020-2021 have a contribution from the Community of 512,000 euros. Actions in the rest of the municipalities The 2020-2021 Works and Services Plan is endowed with 15.2 million euros to implement 103 improvement actions in the 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants in the Region of Murcia.

These works result in the services provided to citizens on a day-to-day basis, and generate economic activity and new jobs at the local level. Some of the proximity actions included in this type of project are the paving of streets, improvements in lighting, new sewage networks, new waste collection systems or the construction and fitting out of parks, gardens or social centers.
