More than 50 families from the 'El Campico' neighborhood already have access to sanitation in their homes, as well as an improved drinking water supply network, thanks to improved facilities.The Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, together with the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo, visited the area today to check the results of the work.Buendía stressed that "it was very necessary for residents and businesses in the area to be able to access a service as basic as sanitation, an essential service for the development of daily life in decent hygiene and sanitary conditions."The works have consisted of the construction of a general collector for the collection of wastewater of 1.24 kilometers in length and with a diameter of 500 millimeters, and 2.56 kilometers of branches that will collect the wastewater from the houses, and will connect with an existing collector at the crossroads between the Barqueros road (RM-C1) and the MU-30.
In total there are 3.8 kilometers of sanitation pipes.In addition, a 2.56-kilometer supply pipeline has been carried out and the streets where the intervention has been made have been paved.
The works have been carried out by the regional government and have involved an investment of 870,000 euros
