| The Municipal Group of the PP in Alcantarilla presents to the Plenary the request for the resignation of Abel Caballero because he no longer represents or defends the City Councils of Spain | The Popular Party of Alcantarilla will request the resignation of the President of the FEMP, Abel Caballero, because he no longer represents or defends the City Councils of Spain.
And the fact is that the President of the FEMP has gone from saying that "the money from the municipalities has to be for the municipalities" to trying to defend, without any success, that the money from the municipalities is taken by the Government of Pedro Sánchez for 15 years. The image of last August 4, 2020 of the President of the FEMP, Abel Caballero, signing with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, an alleged collaboration agreement meant the surrender of the FEMP, at the hands of its President, to the wishes of Pedro Sánchez to keep the savings of the Spanish municipalities. That surrender began days ago with the approval in the Governing Board of the FEMP of the agreement that was signed on August 4.
In that meeting the vote was 6 votes in favor, those of 6 mayors of the PSOE, and 6 against, those of 6 mayors of other political formations.
In that Governing Board, the casting vote of Mr.
Caballero is the one he used and uses to convey that the FEMP endorsed that agreement; an agreement that posed the greatest attack on municipal autonomy in democratic history.
One vote, that of its President, who could not represent the sentiment and desire of the more than 8,130 city councils throughout Spain. This was demonstrated in the Spanish Parliament on Thursday 10th with the repeal of the Royal Decree-Law that gave legal coverage to the agreement with the FEMP.
A majority of deputies, 193 are not against 156, who did echo the majority request of the Spanish municipalities, led by the mayors of the Popular Party and with the silence of the Socialist mayors, so that the blackmail that the Pedro Sánchez's government, with the approval of the President of the FEMP, had proposed to municipalism. This result shows something that was palpable for a few months: Abel Caballero has stopped defending the general interests of the municipalities to follow the strategy of the PSOE Government.
It has put its political ties to the Socialist Party before the majority interests of the group of Spanish municipalities represented in the FEMP.That is why we want the Alcantarilla City Council, as many other city councils will surely do, to request the resignation of the President of the FEMP, Abel Caballero, for his position against the interests that he should represent, to once again have a president of municipalities in the that we all see ourselves represented. The Group of the Popular Party hopes that many municipalities, of all political signs, will join this request so that the union of local entities and the common defense of their interests will once again preside over the dialogue and the functioning of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
