About twenty Civil Protection volunteers from Alcantarilla will take turns helping the elderly or people with reduced mobility in the municipality who need it and make their purchases or go to the pharmacy, and promote that these especially vulnerable people stay at home while the alarm state lasts.
This new initiative, which is in addition to those that the City Council has already launched to stop the expansion of Covid-19, has already been disseminated on social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and on the web page of the City Council of Alcantarilla , and depending on demand, shifts will be held to offer the service to people who need it.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Víctor Martínez, explained that "this initiative is aimed at older people, people who have reduced mobility or some disability and elderly people who live alone and who have no one who can help them."
Civil Protection volunteers are fully trained and specialized and know how they should act in these types of tasks.
In addition, they have protective equipment to ensure that they and the people they are going to serve are completely safe.
Aid will be provided from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
