The Alcantarilla City Council has recovered the Jara Carrillo International Contest of poetry and short story, which this year will celebrate its XXVIII edition.
This contest has a great tradition in the municipality since it was held for 27 years, from 1984 to 2011, and has featured among the jury with great writers such as Rosa Regás, José Luis Castillo Puche, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Soledad Puertolas, Antonio Soler, Javier Tomeo, Ana Rosetti, Andrés, Neuman, Gustavo Martínez Garzó and Lorenzo Silva.
The Governing Board of the City Council today approved the basis of this event, which will be published soon.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, stressed that "it is an emblematic event for our city, which has a high participation rate with an average of 600 works, and where recognized writers such as Juan Manuel de Prada and Murcia have been awarded Luis Leante and Miguel Sánchez Robles ".
People of any nationality and without age limit may be presented.
There will be two modalities, poetry and humor genre tale.
Each participant may submit two works by gender but only one work can be awarded.
A prize will be established for each modality, of 1,600 euros each, and two accésits of 900 euros each.
In addition, three finalists will be appointed for each modality whose works will be included in which they will be published with the works awarded in the contest.
Both the finalists and the winners will receive a commemorative sculpture of the contest.
The registration period will begin with the publication of the rules on the website of the City Council (www.alcantarilla.es) and will end on June 30.
The jury will be formed by professionals of recognized prestige belonging to the educational, literary world, and also by readers.
The first week of October will be known to the preselected ones, on November 2 the jury's decision will be made public and on November 27 the prizes will be awarded.
In addition, the City Council is preparing a parallel program during November, which will become the month of humor, related to the literary contest with activities such as monologues, film series, expert talks and laughter therapy workshops.
