The municipality of Alcantarilla has doubled, in the last five years, the amount of packaging, brick, metal and plastic that is deposited in the yellow container, going from 5'57 kilos of recycled containers per inhabitant / year in 2015, to 11 '87 kilos / inhabitant / year in 2019.

Last year, 494,240 kilos of secondary raw materials were recovered in the yellow containers.

The Councilor for City Development and Historical Heritage, Laura Sandoval, said that "the residents of Alcantarilla are committed to recycling and promote the circular economy since a Pet-type container (water bottles, soft drinks ...) can be to become part of a shirt or a can in the radius of a bicycle. "

Alcantarilla changed its recycling bins at the beginning of 2016 and numerous awareness campaigns have been carried out.

For Sandoval, "we are on the right track, but we can still improve more. Our goal should be to recycle all our packaging waste."
