The Plenary of the City Council of Alcantarilla approved this afternoon, with the votes in favor of the Popular Party and against PSOE, Citizens and Vox, the draft budget for 2020, for an amount of 29,500,000 euros, which means guaranteeing maintenance and the improvement of the benefits offered by the City Council.
The budget includes the increase in income without raising taxes on citizens, due to the increase in business activity.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, stressed that "the budget reflects the maximum use of the resources available to the City Council, leveled in its statements of expenditure and income, in order to maintain and strengthen public services, meet the demands social, boost business and economic activity and maintain a policy of budgetary balance. "
In the investment chapter, two million euros will be allocated to projects such as the construction of a bike lane, the installation of electric recharging points for vehicles, the paving of public roads, the renovation of the painting in crosswalks, the remodeling of gardens and squares such as the Plaza de San Roque, the Campoamor garden, the Plaza de España and the Miguel Ángel Blanco square.
In addition, it will intervene in historic buildings such as the adequacy of the space occupied by the Department of Social Services in the market for supplies for study room, and the Department will be transferred to the Child Care Center.

2020 will be the year of the culmination of major municipal projects such as the remodeling of the Noria environment, the Aqueduct and the Huerta Museum, the planting of more than 10,000 trees in the municipality with the Kiri urban forest project, and the continuation of the procedures for the construction of the southern variant of Alcantarilla.
Grants
In the social field, all subsidies to sports, cultural and social entities are maintained, with an amount of more than 306,000 euros.
The Department of Social Welfare will offer more emergency aid, the amount of which increases 5,000 euros, with a total of 125,000 euros for aid to families who need it most to face the payment of basic services such as electricity, water, rental housing and food .
In the sports field, maintenance and improvement of municipal sports facilities are contemplated, such as new tennis courts, the change of the seating of the Angel Sornichero soccer field, and the arrangement of the roof and the pavement of the Magritas pavilion.
In the area of ​​Urban Planning this year will be decisive since the new General Urban Planning Plan will come into force, which will be approved shortly and will allow the municipality to be modernized and create new residential, industrial and park and garden areas.
In addition, the Department will improve the appearance of the streets of the city with the new regulations for cleaning and fencing of lots, in which 55,000 euros will be invested.

The New Technologies area will work to increase the procedures that can be carried out in electronic headquarters, which have increased from 25 to 110 in recent years, as well as modernize the City Council website to make it more intuitive and accessible.
In order to improve citizen service, the Registry Office will be moved, which is currently located on the ground floor of the City Hall, to a space, in the immediate vicinity of the Consistory, where it can be served more comfortably and Privacy.
The support to the business fabric and commerce of Alcantarilla is another of the fundamental pillars for the municipality, due to the economic activity it generates and the creation of employment and wealth.
The City Council allocates 43,000 euros for business and commercial development.
As for the cultural field, premiere cinema will continue to be offered to all citizens at the Infanta Elena Cultural Center, an initiative that was launched for the first time last year with great success.

In 2020 Alcantarilla will host the II international congress of school and social coexistence, which will attract a large number of visitors.
Budgets also include actions to combat climate change, both in reducing emissions, and in adapting to such change.
Information and awareness campaigns will also be developed, with special emphasis on sustainable mobility with the establishment of pedestrian and cycling routes, and promoting more efficient vehicles.
The City Council will continue working on the improvement of air quality, carrying out the studies and work necessary to determine the main pollutants, and adopting the resulting measures.
In 2020, the comprehensive animal protection plan will be developed and implemented, with the implementation of the control plan for feline colonies and the improvement of services for the care and protection of lost or abandoned domestic animals.
The Councilor for Finance and Human Resources, Raquel de la Paz, explained that "the City Council continues to fulfill commitments to deal with loan repayment, the service of the Firefighting Consortium and the subsidy for the exploitation of Entrevías parking, among others" .
In addition, the budget includes 13 million in personnel costs, to meet the rise marked by the Government of Spain, fill vacancies and new additions, with the aim of offering better service to citizens.
