The Department of Social Welfare, Family and Women of the City of Alcantarilla has prepared an extensive program of activities to commemorate March 8, International Women's Day.
On March 6, the "XII Women's Awards Gala" will be held at the Infanta Elena Cultural Center, at 11:30 am, where women from the municipality will be distinguished who have stood out for their professional career and for their Fight for equality.
Among the planned activities is also the meeting "Women who make history", which will be held at the Infanta Elena Cultural Center on March 5, at 12 noon, with the participation of women from the Center for Specialized Care for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI), Copedeco, the Widows Association, the Housewives Association and the Association against Cancer.
From March 5 to 24 you can visit in the Municipal Archive (Cayitas House), the exhibition "Discovering scientists", with the biographies of 38 women scientists and inventors made by children between 7 and 10 years, and organized by the Department of Education.
Also on science will discuss the colloquial talk scheduled on March 20 with the title "Women also choose science", given by the Vice Dean of the Complutense University María Luz García Lorenzo, for secondary school students, in Cayitas Square.
On March 8, the Huerta Museum will host a guided gastronomic visit on the life of women in the orchard of Murcia, with tasting products.

The artistic expression also has a place in this programming, so the Department of Social Welfare has scheduled a theater workshop to be held from March 4 to June 3 taught by Carmen Quirosa and aimed at women of the CAVI.
It will be held in the auditorium of the Virgen de la Salud Residence.
To harmonize body and mind, CAVI professionals will give a yoga and relaxation workshop for women in the municipality of Alcantarilla, on March 9, from 10 to 11:30, in the auditorium of the Virgin of Health Residence .
