The multinational PepsiCo already produces in its new plant of the San Andrés de Alcantarilla business park.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, visited the company last week together with the managing director of Tropicana Alvalle, Gustavo Aguilera, and the director of institutional relations and corporate communication at PepsiCo, Marta Pulluelo.
The company occupies a space of 36,000 square meters and has made an investment of 31 million euros.
PepsiCo produces gazpachos, cold soups and Alvalle vegetable creams locally.
The new plant will increase the production of these foods by 50 percent.
The company currently markets 29 million liters per year of these products, of which half are consumed in Spain and the rest in markets in Germany, Belgium, France, Holland, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
In addition, the new installation allows to reduce the environmental impact of its activity with a reduction of 30 percent in direct water consumption and 20 percent in energy.
The mayor stressed the importance for Alcantarilla that a company of the magnitude of Alvalle PepsiCo is installed in the city, "for its ability to generate direct and indirect jobs, while confirming Alcantarilla as an excellent destination for industrial investment."
Alvalle consumes vegetables for her gazpachos mainly from farmers in the Region of Murcia, and the provinces of Alicante and Almeria.
The Murcia company Alvalle has been owned by PepsiCo since 1999. The US company has brands such as Pepsicola, Lay's, Tropicana, Rufles, Matutano, Doritos and Gatorade, among many others.
