The City Council of Alcantarilla approved this morning the Municipal Truancy and Dropout Plan that contemplates the regulatory regulation for the prevention, monitoring and control of school abandonment of minors in Alcantarilla.
This morning the Municipal Absenteeism and Dropout Commission was established, chaired by the Councilor for Education, Culture and Youth, Marina Lorenzo, and formed by directors of public and concerted centers, the inspection of Primary and Secondary area, guidance counselors, teachers of Community Services Work, representatives of the departments of Education, Social Services and Police, the PRAE Educational Technique and a representation of mothers and fathers through the Federation of Mothers and Fathers of Alcantarilla (Fampama).
The main objective of the constitution of this commission was the approval of the Municipal Truancy and Dropout Plan.
The Plan aims to reduce truancy and drop-out, favor the educational promotion of these students, especially those who are at risk or exclusion, and promote school success.
The City of Alcantarilla began in 2005 the project of individual and group intervention in primary and secondary schools for the prevention and eradication of absenteeism.
From the Department of Education, absenteeism is approached from the perspective of prevention, intervention, monitoring and control.
When a case is detected, an individual, family and group intervention is carried out in the educational centers, with the reference professionals of the students and their families.
The municipality has 4,586 students enrolled in Primary and 2,652 in Secondary.
Last year there were 12 interventions related to absenteeism in Primary and 9 interventions in Secondary.
The performances include 51 interviews, 24 notifications and 11 home visits.
The number of interventions in Secondary has decreased considerably in relation to the previous course (2017/2018), which was 14 interventions in Primary and 18 in Secondary.
The plan intervenes in cases of absenteeism and dropping out of school, proposing a set of actions aimed at ensuring that absentee students return normally to the school.
In addition, preventive actions are carried out, and includes the action protocol to follow.
