The Alcantarilla City Council will improve the accessibility of 61 pedestrian crossings on Calle Mayor.
The project will be developed in three phases, the first one enters the streets Camino de la piedra and Cartagena, with 19 crosswalks;
the second section between the streets Eras and Camino de los Romanos, with 21 crosswalks;
and a third section between Buenavista and Término streets, with 21 crosswalks.
The first phase of the works will begin shortly and involves an investment of 50,000 euros, of which about 24,800 euros are financed by the Autonomous Community, within the call for accessibility assistance for municipalities.
The Councilor for Urban Development and Historical Heritage, Laura Sandoval, explained that "the objective is to improve the urban environment and make a city more accessible."
