The Universal Children's Day has been celebrated with the reading of a manifesto by the students of the San José Obrero School and another one made by the students of the IES Sanje
Alcantarilla already has two distinctive Unicef plates that recognize it as "Child Friendly City".
The Councilor for Education, Culture and Youth, Marina Lorenzo, and the president of Unicef Murcia, Amparo Marzal, discovered the plaque located in the access to the municipality by Hero.
In addition, another sign has been installed in the access to Alcantarilla by the Avenida Cristo Yacente.
The City of Alcantarilla began in 2017 its project to be part of the network of Child Friendly Cities.
Unicef granted this distinction to the municipality in November 2018, highlighting Alcantarilla's commitment to the participation of the youngest in municipal decision-making, such as the celebration of the Children's Plenary and the elaboration of the I Childhood and Adolescence Plan.
This distinction recognizes the commitment of the locality to the fulfillment of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In the Region, 11 city halls are "Child Friendly City".
In addition, Universal Children's Day, which is commemorated today, is celebrated in Alcantarilla with leisure activities for the nearly 500 students of second grade of primary education in schools in the municipality, in the Plaza de San Pedro.
The students of the San José Obrero school participated in the reading of a manifesto read from the balcony of the Town Hall.
The students of the IES Sanje also wanted to collaborate in the celebration and organized the solidarity march "Drops for Niger", from the IES to the Plaza de San Pedro, with the participation of around 500 people.
Later they read a manifesto made by them from the balcony of the Town Hall, in which they remembered children living in poverty, children who are forced to work, those who do not receive elementary education and the least unaccompanied who arrive in the Region , and requested to become "full citizens and participants in the problems that affect us all".
