The Councilor for Development of the City and Historical Heritage, Juan Antonio Mata, left his position today as a councilor in the City Council of Alcantarilla to join as a deputy to the Regional Assembly.
The City Council held an Urgent Extraordinary Plenary this morning to take notice of the resignation of the councilor.
After Mata's resignation, the Central Electoral Board has been informed that the next councilor on the list to fill the position is José Luis Bernal Sánchez, to issue the corresponding credential.
Once received, a Plenary will be held for the inauguration of the new mayor.
Juan Antonio Mata has a degree in Biology in the specialty of Biotechnology from the University of Murcia.
He is an environmental technician, career officer of the City Council of Alcantarilla, since 2007, and has held the positions of Chief of the Environment Section, Head of Section of the Permanent Office of the Local Agenda 21 and Head of Service of the Parks Area and gardens.
In June 2017, he took possession as councilor of the City Council of Alcantarilla with the competences of Public Safety and Works and Services.
He was re-appointed City Councilor in June 2019, with the powers of City Development and Historical Heritage.
