The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, received this afternoon the national sub-21 beach soccer coach, the sewer Christian Méndez Lacarcel, who won the World Cup held in Doha (Qatar) with the Women's Beach Soccer Team.
Buendía highlighted the trajectory of this athlete, "which bears the name of Alcantarilla all over the world and is an example for all children who practice sports in our city."
The sewer also managed to make the Spanish U-21 men's beach soccer team champion, for the second consecutive year, of the Siofok Talent Beach Cup held in Hungary last July and the silver medal in the European games held in Minsk (Belarus ) in June.
Christian Méndez Lacarcel was recognized in Alcantarilla with the 2005 Distinguished Prize in the football category at the 2005 Alcantarilla Sports Gala, and the most outstanding sports career award at the II Sports and Youth Awards last year.
This sewer has been a soccer, futsal and beach soccer player and managed to be runner-up in the world with the Spanish Beach Soccer Team 5 years ago in Tahiti.
Since June 2018, he has made the competition compatible as an active player and his work as coach of the national team.
