The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, held a meeting in Madrid this morning with the president of the Railway Infrastructure Manager (ADIF), Isabel Pardo, to learn about the details of the High Speed ​​(AVE) works passing through Alcantarilla.

Buendía requested an agile coordination and collaboration between the technicians of ADIF and the City Council in those sections of the South Variant that coincide with segments of the corridor, as is the case of the initial section, next to the Road of the Soldiers, and the bridge over the MU -30, where it would be necessary to extend it to two lanes per direction.

In the meeting they also discussed the completion of the trench platform in the area of ​​the Las Tejeras corridor.

The project is awarded and has three years of execution, ADIF is currently developing the works plan, which will be explained by the ADIF project manager in a next visit to the Region of Murcia, so that citizens know All the details.

Buendía also requested the complete project of the integration of the AVE in Alcantarilla.

Among the improvements agreed by the City Council and ADIF last year are the expansion of the underground until reaching 996 meters from the future new station to the Termino street, the construction of a new suburban station, the continuation of the station station Lorca on the underground line, thus providing new access to the municipality;

the construction of an underpass, both for vehicles and pedestrians, giving continuation to the Term Street until the Army of the Air Avenue, and thus adding a new transit option in the Las Tejeras neighborhood.

ADIF also committed to the construction of two overpasses for pedestrians from the Roman Road to Termino Street, construction of a roundabout at the beginning of the Army of Air Avenue that will order traffic and improve access to nearby homes, the Elimination of the Black Voice flood tunnel and the suppression of the level crossing of the Roman Road.

Murcia-Madrid line

As for the Murcia-Madrid line, on July 26 the contract for the development of the informative study was signed with the Secretary of State for Infrastructures, which will require the City Council to transfer options and alternatives for both ring and underground that can be carried out in the route that will run through Alcantarilla.
