The City Council of Alcantarilla adheres to the request of the Regional Government to declare the Region of Murcia 'Area seriously affected by civil protection emergency', as approved unanimously this morning by the Plenary, convened in an extraordinary and urgent way.
In the proposal presented by the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, the Government of the Nation is also urged "to make the declaration as soon as possible, given the urgency of the damage suffered, and to be destined to the Region of Murcia whatever aid and investments are necessary for the repair and prevention works that must be undertaken without delay ".
In addition, a five-year moratorium (amortization and interest) will be requested from the Government of Spain in the repayment of loans granted through the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to the City Councils of the Region of Murcia for payment to suppliers, with in order that these amounts can be used to repair the damage suffered and prevent new catastrophes.
The mayor made public the thanks "to all those who have helped during this episode so critical for the whole of the Region of Murcia, and to those who continue to do so, Local Police and municipal services of the City of Alcantarilla, Regional Government and staff of the various Administrations, to the National Police and Civil Guard, Local Police, Armed Forces, in particular to the Sewer Air Base and the Emergency Military Unit, Firefighters, emergency services, Civil Protection, Red Cross, health personnel, media, companies that provide services in the municipality of Alcantarilla, and the thousands of volunteers who have turned to those affected, as well as the companies that have helped. "
The Ministry of Interior will also be asked to carry out the actions at its disposal to obtain aid from the European Union.
The content of all these agreements will be transferred to the Government of Spain and that of the Region of Murcia.
