The Alcantara High School Institute of Alcantarilla celebrates this course on the 20th anniversary of its inauguration.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, visited the educational center and participated in an act of beginning of course and celebration of the anniversary, which was attended by the director of the center, Ginés Ruiz, and students.
The IES Alcantara has this course with 1,033 students enrolled who will receive a class of 87 teachers in the teachings of the Higher Cycle module of Network Systems Management, Secondary and Secondary Bilingual, Baccalaureate, Bilingual Baccalaureate and Research Baccalaureate.
The mayor highlighted this institute "as a good example of management since it is the largest in the municipality and is always at the forefront of educational programs."
The center opened in 1999/2000 with 20 teachers.
The IES won the Sports Merit Award from the Region of Murcia, the National Security Award in School Centers and pioneered the implementation of the Curriculum Reinforcement Program, which has led to its Motivating Classrooms project.
At present, the center carries out a digital project through which groups of digital students, with tablets, and non-digital students train other students working together with Primary, Secondary and University students.
3,450 Secondary and Baccalaureate students
In the Sewer, during the 2019/2020 academic year 3,450 students of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate study, of which 2,643 students are from Secondary School and 807 from Baccalaureate.
The five secondary schools in the municipality, IES Francisco Salzillo, IES Alcántara, Samaniego, IES Sanje and Sagrado Corazón, offer bilingual training, and IES Francisco Salzillo also has a baccalaureate at night.
