The Plenary Session of the City Council of Alcantarilla, which will be held tomorrow, will study the extension of the water supply and sanitation service contract in the municipality, which Hidrogea offers.
The Councilor for City Development and Historical Heritage, Juan Antonio Mata, explained that "the extension is contemplated in the contract that is maintained with the concessionaire and is completely legal."
The councilor recalled that the City Council has not increased the water bill since 2013, "which has meant not updating water rates and that citizens have been able to save 900,000 euros in the 2014-2019 period."
Also, if the extension of the contract is approved in plenary tomorrow, the neighbors will not experience a rise in their rate.
The tap water in the municipality meets all sanitary requirements.
The Los Guillermos plant produces two million cubic meters of potable water per year and 7,500 more water analyzes are carried out than are required by regulations.
Alcantarilla is one of the most efficient municipalities at the technical level of the national scene, thanks to the enormous improvements made in the supply and sanitation service.
The network's performance is almost 5 percent above the national average, according to the latest surveys conducted by the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation (AEAS).
"This has meant the saving of more than eight million cubic meters of water, the equivalent of four years of consumption in Alcantarilla, contributing to the fight against climate change," Mata said.
Among the future projects is the renewal of services in various areas of the municipality with an investment of 1.2 million euros, in streets such as Isaac Albeniz, Teruel, Barcelona, ​​Ceuta and Gloria Pastor Velasco Gabaldón.
