160 children have participated during the months of July and August in the summer school of the City of Alcantarilla, organized in collaboration with the Autonomous Community, which has been held at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción school, and ends today.
The Councilor for Social Welfare, Family and Women, María Ignacia Domingo, stressed that "this initiative is an indispensable tool for those families in which the parents are busy, working, receiving training for employment or actively seeking employment, with children of ages between 3 and 12 years of age enrolled in centers of Infant and Primary Education of the municipality ".
This year, as a novelty, three students with special educational needs participated in this activity, during the month of July, and two children during the month of August.
The month that more children participated was July, with 105 students in the first fortnight and 114 in the second.
The schedule was from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In addition, morning hours were made available to families, with the possibility of entering after 8:00 am;
and a waiting service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The allocation of places was made in compliance with the requirements of the requesting families and by lottery.
The Summer School, which is funded by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, favors the reconciliation of work and family life of families registered in the municipality of Alcantarilla.
The parents have had the opportunity to enroll the little ones for fortnights, adapting to family vacations.
