The environmental section of the electoral program with which the PSOE attends the municipal elections plans to implement the first Sewer Air Quality Plan, the Comprehensive Recovery Plan for the Salá Water Site and the Cumbres Plan to preserve the habitats of community interest.
The socialist candidate for mayor, Francisco Saavedra, stresses that "these three plans will be the pillars from which we will develop our environmental policies that have as reference the Sustainable Development Goals approved as Agenda 2030, in the General Assembly of the United Nations, therefore, in the next contracts that go out to tender, companies with eco-efficiency practices and optimization of resources will be valued ".
The first of the plans that will launch the PSOE will be the air quality, which plans to design an anti-pollution protocol for the episodes of pollution generated in Sewer PM10 particles resulting from the enormous intensity of road traffic that supports the municipal term from the Calle Mayor, Avenida Príncipe and the A-7 and El Palmar motorways.
This plan also foresees the implementation of thematic campaigns to promote sustainable mobility, such as 'The Bicycle Day' and 'Today I only travel on public transport', as well as others focused on promoting environmental volunteering and the reforestation of spaces : 'A sewer, a tree'.
"The air quality plan includes important actions such as implementing new air quality meters at strategic Sewer points, enabling the first sections of the bike lane and reducing the carbon footprint, favoring the implementation of electric stations to enhance the use of eco-efficient vehicles. ", according to Saavedra.
In fact, other of the measures will be to start the progressive renovation of the municipal fleet by replacing older cars, trucks and motorcycles with vehicles powered by fossil fuels or electric vehicles.
European heritage seal
In the elaboration of the environmental section of the electoral program, an emblematic place in the history of the town has also been taken into account, with the Plan for the Integral Recovery of Water Salá and its surrounding environment.
"This plan will be a strategic action for the city to get the European Union to grant us the stamp of European heritage of the environment," underlined the mayoral candidate.
Among the actions planned in this area include the recovery of riparian forest, replanting threatened tree species, such as elm and ash, as well as shrubs with historical values, such as the tamarisk or the wicker.
Urban gardens will also be installed, with segmented plots and equipped with information signs.
"We will promote the agroecology and the huertanas traditions, by means of the development of workshops for all the sectors of age of the population", emphasizes the socialist Francisco Saavedra.
Another of the actions planned in the Integral Recovery Plan of the Paraje del Agua Salá, will be the installation of an observatory for birds because the area enjoys the presence of endangered species.
Finally the barbecues will be rehabilitated and more litter bins will be installed, new furniture to eat, together with fitness equipment and swings made with sustainable materials with the environment.
The third pillar of the environmental proposals of the PSOE will be the Plan Cumbres to preserve the 320 hectares of habitats of community interest that Alcantarilla has qualified, within the annex I of the European directive of habitats.
To this end, a plan has been drawn up that will promote actions aimed at guaranteeing the few forest spaces with natural vegetation and botanical interest that the municipality has.
"This plan is named for the site of Las Cumbres, in which they have lost 18 hectares of thyme and grasses grass," says Saavedra.
The initiatives that contemplate these three plans have been shattered during the last days in the campaign events that have taken place in the Campoamor garden and in the squares of the Constitution and Adolfo Suárez.
"We will strive to achieve consensus on environmental matters with all the parties that obtain representation at the City Council next Sunday and with the environmental groups, as well as promote strategic alliances with institutions with a technical profile, such as the universities of Murcia and Cartagena", concludes the candidate for mayor, and at that time, doctor of Chemical Sciences.
