The candidate of the PSOE to the mayoralty alcantarillera, Francisco Saavedra, and the socialist candidate of Javalí Nuevo, María Jesús Barquero, signed an agreement this morning to promote a common front in railway matters before the Government of Spain and the Autonomous Community.
Through this document, the two candidates commit themselves verbatim during the next legislature "to promote, coordinate and undertake joint actions from the Town Hall of Alcantarilla and the Municipal Board that will be aimed at favoring the execution of the Sewer and Javalí variant to take the railway line of Chinchilla-Cartagena that crosses its respective population centers ".
The chosen place to sign this agreement have been the routes of the level crossing of the hamlet of Murcia whose term, as it happens with the town sewer, is divided into two halves by the passage of the aforementioned railway line.
In fact, historically, deadly accidents have been recorded in both towns, faults in the barriers that have caused problems to the traffic of vehicles and the lands that run parallel to the train tracks are usually used on weekends by teenagers to move on foot. between Javalí and Alcantarilla.
Therefore, Saavedra and Barquero have reflected in writing in the document that they will only promote actions "taking into account the general interest of the residents of both populations, and regardless of the results obtained by the respective candidates in the municipal elections."
The rail agreement advances that one of the actions that will be undertaken, at the beginning of the next legislature, will be to send motions to the Plenary of the Sewer City Council and to the Plenary Session of the Municipal Board of Javalí Nuevo "to urge the Ministry of Public Works to expedite the maximum the bidding deadlines of the aforementioned variant and that the works begin during the next term 2019-2023 ".
This agreement between the candidates Francisco Saavedra and María Jesús Barquero does not exclude the rest of the political formations, as the document stresses: "Both the PSOE de Alcantarilla and the PSOE de Javalí Nuevo will propose the rest of the parties, through the Plenary Session of the City Council and the Municipal Board, which support the signing of an institutional agreement between the Sewer City Council and the Municipal Board of Javalí Nuevo that will be transferred to the Autonomous Community and the Ministry of Development to make visible to the governments of the Region of Murcia and Spain that the execution of the variant to take the railway line, is a project that does not understand political colors because it is a priority action in matters of infrastructure for the 41,622 residents of Sewer and 3,253 of Javalí Nuevo ".
Railroad Commission
The aforementioned agreement that has closed the two socialist groups also plans to introduce a change in the current Sewer rail commission, so that in the same, from the next mandate, not only may attend the municipal groups of the City, but also the members of the Municipal Board of Javalí Nuevo, "with the aim of working in harmony with the Autonomous Community and the Ministry of Development in all those actions that affect and favor the early execution of the railway variant".
The signing of this document has also been attended by the former mayor of Alcantarilla, Pedro Manuel Toledo, and Senator Francisco Onate.
"From the Government of Spain we are going to put all the parliamentary tools at the service of the execution of the variant, with the aim of making the works as quick as possible," the senator stressed.
"I am here to give political testimony that the acting Secretary of Infrastructure, Pedro Saura, is working so that the works begin as soon as possible during the next legislature," said Ońate.
The variant of Javalí and Alcantarilla would release thousands of square meters of land in the urban centers of both towns, which could be used to enable an urban forest with a greenway, among other leisure facilities with an environmental focus.
In January of this year, the Government of Spain put out to tender for 315,350 euros the informative study of 'Urban integration of the Chinchilla-Cartagena line in Sewer and New Javalí'.
The Socialist candidate for mayor of the Alcantarillera, Francisco Saavedra, met on May 10 with the Deputy and Secretary of Infrastructure in office, Pedro Saura, and technicians of the Ministry of Development, which detailed that the layout of the variant will be 7 , 5 kilometers and will start between Javalí Nuevo and Las Torres, extending almost parallel along the A-7 highway to the La Paz Service Area.
In this way, it would fulfill a historic claim of the residents of Alcantarilla and the hamlet of Murcia Javalí who have demanded decades to remove from their populations the train tracks.
