The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today, accompanied by the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, the day-stay center "Pedro Hernández Caballero" and the social center of the IMAS "Diego Cubillana".
In the visit was also Pedro Hernández Caballero himself, accompanying them along with the Councilor for Social Welfare and Health, Francisca Terol.
During her visit the counselor attended several workshops such as gerontoyoga, psycho-stimulation, nutrition and dietetics, and information technology, which are carried out in these centers and which encourage older people to remain physically, mentally and socially active.
The "Pedro Hernández Caballero" day-stay center, located on Antonio Galindo Street, which is part of the Sewer City Council, is a mixed center, which serves people over 60 years of age, valid and assisted.
The purpose of this Center is to promote a better quality of life for these elderly people and their families, empowering their autonomy and adequate living conditions in their own family environment and community partner, delaying or even preventing their entry into centers residential
Tomás stressed that "a total of 86 elderly people are being served through the different centers of the municipality that offer public places for the elderly".
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, said that "the CED" Pedro Hernández Caballero "is accredited for its operation by the Accreditation and Inspection Service of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, in a total of 35 places, of which 33 places are arranged with the IMAS (Murcian Institute of Social Action), for people valued with dependence and 2 places are municipal, for people who either do not have the degree of dependence or are in process of it.
