Rats climbing the walls, bad odors from decomposing bodies of cats, insects from weeds and accumulated garbage.
This is the problem suffered by a group of residents of the second crossing of Córdoba de Alcantarilla street, whose buildings are attached to an abandoned lot that houses stables and tool sheds with asbestos roofs, as well as rabbit hutches and animal cages in disuse.
On November 13, 2018, they submitted a letter requesting literally to the City Council "the extermination of the rats and the cleaning of the site," but they have not yet received a response.
In the aforementioned plot there are asbestos roofs in several of the stables and sheds, which in turn give shelter to rats and cats.
Weeds also grow without any control and accumulates garbage and waste, such as a refrigerator, cages, blinds ..., which makes this point a pole of attraction for insects especially in spring and summer when high temperatures reach.
In the pedestrian alley through which the plot is accessed, vegetation also grows and there are remains of roofs, woods and plastics.
The PSOE candidate for mayor, Francisco Saavedra, and socialist mayor Lara Hernandez have moved to Cordoba Street to meet with some of those affected, which are owners of houses and flats of a block that in both cases are attached to the plot.
"It is unacceptable that these people have been waiting more than three and a half months for a response from the City Council," criticizes Saavedra.
"Asbestos is a material that has been banned in Spain since 2002 because it is carcinogenic," he recalls.
Tomasa, one of the affected, denounced during her meeting with the socialist delegation that "we have already presented two writings because the rats climb the wall and my husband had to remove a dead cat a fortnight ago because of the smell that was in the street" .
This neighbor also warned that "some nights people come to the booths to get high."

Pedro, another resident, said that "sometimes I hit the rat rats from my terrace."
Francisco Saavedra, PSOE candidate for mayor, promised "to seek solutions to this neighborhood problem."
For its part, the socialist mayor Lara Hernandez advanced to submit a written complaint addressed to the departments of Urban Planning and Works and Services urging "the arrangement and conditioning of the area as a matter of urgency."
Hernandez stressed that "the Consistory has to find out the ownership of the plot for the owners to take measures."
