In the morning of today the Cycling Gala of the Region of Murcia has been presented in the Town Hall of Sewer, that next Friday, February 22 will be celebrated in our municipality, in the Cultural Center Infanta Elena, from 20:00 hours.
The Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, was present at the presentation, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Youth, Antonio Martínez Griñán, along with the president of the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia, Sergio Martínez Ros, as well as two of the sponsoring entities of the Gala, Caja Rural Central, with the director Zona Murcia, Ginés Argilés Ferrer and Marcos José Martínez and representing the Hotel La Paz, its managing director Carlos Navarro Arratia.
In the Gala Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia, will be given the awards for the last season, 2018, both ranking, regional championships, Spain and World Championships, in its seven disciplines, with about 120 awards
As for World Championships among the winners will be the cyclist Alejandro Valverde, for that rainbow jersey won in the World Road Championship, with the gold medal obtained in Innsbruck (Austria), last September 30 and Ismael Sánchez Adán , for the first position obtained in the XCO World Master's Championship 30, held last July 18 in Andorra.
In the Gala will receive their awards all federated outstanding in 2018 in both Road Cycling and Individual Time Trial, BTT will have the Rally and Marathon, here highlight that the sewer Cristian Pellicer, in the category of couples.
In Track those of Individual pursuit, by teams, schrat, punctuation, elimination and speed.
As well as Cyclocross, Trial and Cicloturismo.
Among the winners in Spanish Cups we find the Antonio Jesús Soto Guirao sewer, when he was proclaimed last season winner of the Spanish Cup in Ruta Elite.
As well as being second in the Spanish Road Championship, silver medal and silver medal to be third in the same championship in the Individual Time Trial.
Antonio comes from running the Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia last weekend, when signing this season as a professional in the Euskadi team.
Another of the sewers that will have to collect awards is the veteran Pascual Cremades Lopez, silver medal in the championships of Spain Route for Master 50, held in Soria, as well as regionally.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, had words of thanks for the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia, for offering us the celebration of this Gala in our city, recalling the great tradition and cycling school that has always been with the Cycling Peña Guerrita and the development in our municipality of the Guerrita Trophy, which on March 10 will already celebrate its 28th edition, national event organized by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, with the Spanish Cup of Ruta Elite and U23, without a doubt the second most important cycling competition in our Region.
Buendía also had a special memory for other local cyclists like Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, who will soon have him participating in this Trophy after enlisting in the ranks of the Valverde Team / Terra Fecundis and that last February 10 was lifted with the second Cycling Tour Guadalentín .
He ended by wishing the president of the Federation that the Gala is a success and that once again our city and the Cultural Center Infanta Elena is with the expectations that have been entrusted to us, congratulating and also thanking the supporters present Caja Rural Central, which will soon open office in Alcantarilla and Hotel La Paz, always focused on the initiatives that are organized for Sewer.
A special section in the Gala will have different municipalities of the Region, which will also be distinguished by having been international test sites, such as the City of Puerto Lumbreras and San Javier that hosted stages of the Tour of Spain, the municipalities of Murcia , Beniel and San Javier for the continued support to the Tour of Murcia and the City of Alcantarilla for our support for so many years to the only test of the Spanish Cup as the Guerrita Trophy organized by the Guerrilla Guerrilla Peña and for the support for the new creation of the Sewer Cycling School.
