The project of rehabilitation of the surroundings of the Museum of the Kitchen garden that will be executed on a plot of 25,000 square meters, with a term of inferior execution to the five months.
Today, a few meters from the plot where the project will be executed, at the Citizen Participation Center, the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, has presented to the media, the rehabilitation actions of the environment of the Huerta Museum that will take place.
The project includes a series of actions that include the construction of large playgrounds for children, outdoor activities areas for young people and the construction of an amphitheater on a 25,000 square meter municipal plot.
The objective is double.
On the one hand, recover and restore the historical heritage of the Sewer that make up the Museum of the Huerta, the Ferris wheel and its aqueduct, together with the archaeological sites of the area.
And on the other hand, to approach and integrate this space even more in the city through the creation of a wide place of leisure and culture.
And all with an investment that will exceed 650,000 euros, of which more than 500,000 euros come from the Biennial Plan for Cooperation of Works and Services of the Regional Government, through the General Directorate of Local Administration, and the rest by municipal contribution.
The projected area is located on a plot of 25,000 square meters next to the Museum of the Huerta, aqueduct and ferris wheel, declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1982, and also next to the modern buildings of Citizen Participation, Local Development Agency and Tourism Office .
The alcantarilleros and the visitors will be able to contemplate the excavation of the Aqueduct of the Arcos de la Noria, which will be discovered entirely from its base, after hundreds of half-buried years, providing night lighting.
An outdoor amphitheater will be built with the arches of the aqueduct as a background, for performing arts, music and other activities.
Regarding the development of the works, as stated by the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, it is expected that "in a period of less than five months are already completed." The objectives of the Project are to restore and value the aqueduct of the arches, recover the environment of the set of the Ferris wheel, aqueduct and Museum of the Huerta, and integrate urbanistically the historical and archaeological heritage of this extensive set of historical, hydraulic and archaeological heritage of the city "
Buendía also indicated that "this is another small" gift "that we make to the Museum of the Huerta in this year of celebration of its 50th anniversary, adapt and rehabilitate all its surroundings to bring more the whole of the city to the Museum of the Huerta and generate a space of maximum cultural and tourist attraction for our visitors and for the alcantarilleros themselves ".
The whole set will have accessibility with adapted roads and will have an area of ​​children's games of integration over an area of ​​about 1000 square meters, in which the planned children's elements will pay a tribute to the Sewer Air Base (an Aviocar, a track of landing, a control tower, etc.).
For the youngest, a square skate will be built for skateboard lovers, and a "Street Workout" zone for calisthenics training.
As in previous performances, there is also a canine park of more than 1200 square meters with "agility" elements and a kiosk-bar with a terrace.
The project includes the installation of led lighting throughout the park and urban furniture (banks, bins ...), as well as tree planting that will increase the existing one.
