The work entitled "Funeral march of violin", by the writer Antonio Cano Gómez, was the winner of the first edition of the short novel contest organized last April by the publisher MurciaLibro.
The jury was constituted by the professor Victorino Polo García, emeritus professor of Hispano-American Literature of the University of Murcia;
Juan Tomás Frutos, journalist and writer;
Manuel Herrero Carcelén, journalist, psychologist and pedagogue;
Nuria del Monte Márquez, journalist and editorial distributor;
and Francisco Serrano, philologist and editor of Murcia Livro.
The jury wanted to highlight the award-winning work that "the characters are very well characterized and the temporary atmosphere that is recreated is worthy of praise."
The action takes place in Alborada, a fictional town located in La Mancha, in the convulsive moments before the 1982 elections.
The author will receive a cash prize of 500 euros and an award created by the sculptor Antonio Soler.
The novel will be published next spring.
